Life Lately

It's Monday morning and here I sit on my couch cuddled in a blanket watching HGTV... jealous? Don't be. I'm sitting here at home because I have no way to get anywhere since my brakes in my car decided to give out this weekend for the second time in a year. Stress. When this happened last year it was the start of $1,700 worth of repairs... let's pray that's not the case this year because mama's not playing that game again.

Speaking of costly repairs, does anyone have a good camera that they love and recommend? I'm on my second Canon and even though the one I have is new, it got wet a couple of weeks ago at Emily's cheering competition and that was all she wrote. With baseball season and summer weather coming up, I can't be without a camera so I need a replacement asap!

Now onto the rest of life lately, which is happening when I'm not busy breaking expensive things. (See also: my dryer broke last week too.)

Emily had a dance audition this weekend and I'm just so proud of her! She didn't know anyone ahead of time and the audition was at a studio that she doesn't normally dance at so I wouldn't have been surprised if she was a bit nervous or apprehensive. But she wasn't, at all. My girl was confident and excited and didn't hesitate even for a second walking in those doors. She amazes me!
And then there's cheering. Never did I think that I'd be a "cheer mom" but here I am. Emily absolutely loves it and I love watching her! The things these girls can do with their little bodies is so impressive... they are absolutely some of the best little athletes I've ever seen!
Baseball is still busy, as always. I'm now officially a board member for our local Little League which means that our already crazy busy upcoming baseball / softball season will be even busier this year. I'm a little nervous to think of how we'll juggle it all, but I'm sure I'll just figure it out as I go.

I still haven't been back to CrossFit but am planning on it this week, as long as my car repairs don't suck my bank account dry! I'm already noticing a big difference in how my body feels without CrossFit and I don't like it! Of course there's the obvious toning and getting in shape, but there's also so many little things where it makes a difference too. It's hard to explain but I feel SO much better when I'm using my body to be strong and powerful each day. Just another reason why I'm not willing to give up CrossFit just yet!

And last but not least today, can we please talk about how grown up these two look in this picture from Emily's school concert last week?! Way too fast.
I hope you all had a great weekend... here's to a good week that doesn't end up costing me a fortune!

Ugh!!! I am so sorry. I swear when it rains it pours! Hopefully the brakes won't be too expensive. I think my new front brakes were less than $200, and I think they were close to $150.

I just got a new camera this fall. I love it. It is a Nikon, not sure of the model. It looks like a big girl camera, but it isn't. I got it at Costco. Now,I just need to learn how to use it.

I watched HGTV for 2 hours on Saturday. It was glorious!

Chin up sweet pea! it will get better!

Ugh! Too much $$ drainage at once! I hope things start to look up soon.

I think my brakes are going. This winter has been total hell on my car.

Oh no, how have your brakes gone out twice in one year?! I would be so pissed! I hope you get it fixed soon and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I love my Nikon D3000. This is my second Nikon. I purchased the first one at Best Buy, and I put the warranty on it. After several drops and several repairs, they replaced it with the newer model... D3000. I highly recommend their warranty. They fix it for any little thing and after several repairs, they give you the option to replace it for the same or equal value. If you choose a better model (like I did) you just pay the difference. It's AMAZING! :)

I love Canon, both my P&S and DSLR are Canons. My point & shoot is really good. You can go look at my pictures on my Photography page if you want. ( https://www.facebook.com/pages/BNB-Photography/347237585308606 ) I don't think you can get that model anymore though, but there is the Canon PowerShot SX170 IS, which is pretty much a step up from the one I have (I have the SX120 IS). I love mine, so I feel like this one would be just as good, if not better. It's $151.99 (in the site)16 megapixels, amazing zoom. I think it said 64x's (16x optical, 4x digital).
And then, there's the Canon PowerShot SX280. It's 12.1 megapixels and 20x zoom which is on sale at Best Buy right now for $199 I think.
Then there was a Nikon in the BB paper also, it's the Coolpix L830, 16mpx 34x zoom, it's $299 right now (with free memory card and camera bag-I think) I've never shot with a Nikon, so I can't get you that much of an opinion.

Hope you can find a replacement soon, & hope you your car, dryer and camera don't hurt your account too bad. ♥ :-)

Besides the health of my children, car repairs rank second on my list of fears. I am sorry, Erin!!

Oh my word! You've had a rough way to go. Our brakes just went out and we had to replace them. Thank goodness my aunt works at the dealership and was able to give us her discount. I totally feel you. Let's just hope they happen in 3's and that's it for you. I hope your migraine is better.

Love the cheering pic--so fun! And good luck with the car troubles. That's the absolute WORST :(

I believe I saw on twitter the repairs weren't nearly as bad as you thought- so YAY for that. Car troubles are the absolute worst, I know it!

I love that you are a cheer mom and it makes me so excited to be one... eventually! Lol. She needs to come compete in Ohio and I'll meet you and cheer them on! :)
