Last Friday night after working 11 hours and spending 2 hours at baseball I figured I might as well bake 3 dozen cupcakes for Ryan's soccer team and a dozen cinnamon muffins for home. I was tired and while the 3rd batch of cupcakes was baking it finally dawned on me how stupid of an idea that was.
These are the cupcakes I made... Candy Corn Cupcakes... I should have taken a picture of the outside so you could see the layers better. Very festive!
Then there was the actual soccer games of the weekend... Ryan's team played great and made it into the championship game on Monday. I wasn't there for said game on Monday because I was supposed to work despite the holiday... but it didn't matter, I was stuck in bed with a massive headache all day long. Bummer to miss a soccer game for work, even more of a bummer to miss a soccer game and work for a headache. Playoffs begin this weekend... Ryan's team is ranked #4 out of 17 teams in their division... so let's see where these playoffs take us.
Oh, do you guys want to talk about the Red Sox for a minute?! It is Fan Friday after all. In case you're not up on your baseball facts
you totally should be the Sox are 1 win away from the World Series. 1.win.away. But we can't look ahead yet, we still need to win 1 of 2 games at Fenway. I'm a wicked cheeseball, we know this, but I totally teared up after the game last night... totally teared up. 1 year ago our team was in absolute shambles and now we're 1 win away from the World Series. I love this game. I also think back to what the city of Boston has been through this year with the Marathon bombings back in April. That transcends baseball, obviously, but I know this team takes pride in giving the city something successful to rally around. #BostonStrong
This little sweetness is keeping me insanely busy. Cheering is starting back up in a couple of weeks so between that, her tumbling, gymnastics, dance, and photo club after school, my head is spinning. Something's gotta go because mama can't keep up with it all. Not with baseball and soccer too. And a full-time job and a household to run. Gee, I wonder why I get headaches.
While we were at gymnastics last week I brought a book and some hot coffee with me... figured I'd get in a little "me" time wherever I could! Has anyone ever read this book?...
I'm a huge fan of Glennon's... if you're not familiar with her, I encourage you to visit her blog. She's an amazing, amazing woman. I can't say that I've read the book yet either because it didn't even get opened at gymnastics... I spent the whole time following along the Red Sox game on my phone.
Those Red Sox, by the way, have been keeping me up until the early morning hours with all these tense games. They're incredible, great competition, good for the game of baseball... bad for my nerves. Ryan too... he's such a trooper and watches the games with me but doesn't make it until the end. This is how he felt about a grand slam the other night...
That's what I feel like doing right this very minute. Wishful thinking.
Still obsessed with Candy Crush over here too... I think when you start taking to Google to find hints to beat the level you're on is when it's time to admit you might have a problem. I don't know though, I've never done that. Maybe.
Did you guys know that we're only like 10 weeks away from Christmas. 10 weeks. Holy shiiit. As much as there is to do outside the home, there's also lots to do inside the home. Like out with the old, in with the new. My son still has gifts from last Christmas that are still in the packaging. Never been used. I need to purge before the holidays get here. Clothes, toys, shoes, etc... they all gotta go to make room for the new. I started one night this week and got the mud room done which includes shoes, boots, hats, mittens, gloves, and sports equipment. We're off to a good start.
Lastly, I want to chat about Bigs & Littles for a second. You can read more about the blogging network here. My "littles" are Angi from Can't Buy Me Love and Sami from Yours, Mine, and Ours. I can't wait to chat with these ladies more and get to know them and their blogs. If you're looking for a new blog to read, check either one (or both!) of these ladies out!
That's all I've got for you on this very random Friday. I told y'all it wasn't very exciting but now you're caught up with the life and times of She's a big star. Have a good weekend!
