Checking In On New Year's Goals

Remember these? New Year's resolutions, or goals as I called them, that we made so long ago just one month ago! Now that we're already a full month into the new year, I figured it'd be a good time to check in and see where we're at with making those goals a reality.

Mine? Well the first one was to look like this...
Hasn't happened yet but I am working on it and making progress. Not as much progress as I had hoped since I yo-yo'ed for the first couple weeks of January but I'm on my way now and feeling good.
This is also the year I wanted to stop talking about running a 5K and actually doing it. Progress? All signed up for my first one on Mother's Day!
My money goals were to build up my savings and put at least $1K in my Christmas Club account before the holidays. That's happening. Each week I pay myself first and set money aside in my savings account and my Christmas Club account. Is it a lot of money? No. But it's something and I'm adding to those very important accounts each week.

The rest of my goals revolved around traveling and none of those are happening yet. I'm putting those off until I can build up my savings account more. Sadly, braces for my kids have to come before a family vaca and that's a tough pill bill to swallow, but we're starting to tackle that now. I still plan on traveling, I'm just focusing on the more important necessities first.

What were some of your new year's goals for 2013? Are you making progress or are you done with them already?

Ah saving money! My financial advisor, aka my political advisor, aka my career advisor, aka my dad says to always pay yourself first! Hes a very smart man and was able to retire at 55! Braces are definitely worth it...im so glad my parents did it for me when I was younger and no longer have a HUGE gap in the front! My sisters husbands family didnt do that for him and now he has braces at 30. So Im sure your kids will thank you IMMENSELY when they are older! Good luck on your training too!!

That's great progress on your goals! I'm such a horrible goal setter. Way to go on saving some $ and signing up for your first 5k!

I've been toying with the idea of taking up running again...but I have a herniated disk in my lower back which has caused numbness down my leg....part of me is terrified that it will get worse, so I'm afraid to run...and part of me thinks maybe I'm using that as an excuse.....

I'm also trying to do a money challenge this year, I blogged about it here

I'm hoping to have a pot full of moeny, and a new body by this time next year......(will take said money and buy a new wardrobe!)
